Excerpt (R-Rated)

The water ran in the bathroom, and I smiled. I could use a shower to perk me up. Showering with Merrick sounded even more appealing. I opened the unlocked bathroom door, taking that as a sign I was meant to join him. Quickly, I shed my clothes and unbraided my hair.

I slid the shower curtain open and caught Merrick with his hand wrapped around his erect penis. The erotic sight hardened my nipples and sent a yearning ache through my sex.

He turned, dropping his hands to his sides, his eyes widening either at me because I was naked or because I just caught him jerking off.

“Haven’t you ever heard of knocking?” he asked.

“Haven’t you ever heard of locking the door?” I climbed inside the tub, smiling playfully, and shut the curtain behind me while I ogled his stiff penis. “You know, I can help you with that.”

“Jessie, you are indeed making this difficult for me.” Yet he remained in the shower, his eyes brightening with desire, his impressive hard-on jutting out.

“Good.” I lathered my hands and stroked his erection, and it grew harder in my confident grasp.

We stood beneath the spraying water, and he groaned and clutched my shoulders as I glided one of my hands around his balls, giving them a gentle tug.

“Jessie, you’ll be the end of me.” His body convulsed beneath my strokes and squeezes along his throbbing length.

Mr. Calm and Collected threw his head back, digging his fingers into my shoulders, and let out a ragged moan that was close to a growl. Amber flickers sparkled in his blue depths, his two canine teeth elongating into fangs. A thrilling shiver rippled between my thighs.

“Bite me, Merrick.”

He shook his head and grunted, “Not a good idea.”

His body shuddered and rocked with his orgasm, and his cum shot out on my belly. I dipped my finger and brought some to my lips before the water rinsed it off my skin. He watched me lick his cum with a wide, admiring gaze. Merrick pulled me into his arms, kissed me, and turned around, leaning his forearms against the shower wall.

A pang of sympathy hit me for my conflicted mate. Naked and stripped of his daunting weapons, he still looked quite capable and strong, though I sensed a streak of vulnerability within that fortress of strength that made him even more appealing. Brimming with tender flickers of affection, I traced the faint scars on his rigid back. There were so many, like lines on a map. The back of my throat tightened, and a sympathetic twinge struck my chest.

Book Review: New Orleans Vampires, History and Legend by Marita Woywod Crandle

New Orleans Vampires: History and Legend (Haunted America) by [Marita Crandle]

https://www.amazon.com/New-Orleans-Vampires-History-Haunted-ebook/dp/B075H2MT6R/ref=sr_1_3?crid=1Q10F8MXQQ16V&dchild=1&keywords=new+orleans+vampires&qid=1598924148&s=digital-text&sprefix=new+orleans+vam%2Caps%2C217&sr=1-3

An interesting read. 4 stars.

I was looking for inspiration and decided to read this book based on vampire tales that originated in New Orleans.  I found the stories interesting. I've read quite a few books on vampires, but I'd never heard of these stories about The Casket Girls, Comte De St. Germain, and the Carter Brothers. As I was reading them, I could almost sense the mystery and spookiness of the Quarter. The author's own vampire encounter gave me chills. As an added bonus, there is a bibliography at the end for further reading. Highly recommended for anyone who loves well-researched vampire tales.

Favorite Friday: Sharing a favorite vampire book

Favorite vampire book: 'Salem’s Lot by Stephen King

Book Description:
Ben Mears has returned to Jerusalem’s Lot in hopes that exploring the history of the Marsten House, an old mansion long the subject of rumor and speculation, will help him cast out his personal devils and provide inspiration for his new book. But when two young boys venture into the woods, and only one returns alive, Mears begins to realize that something sinister is at work—in fact, his hometown is under siege from forces of darkness far beyond his imagination. And only he, with a small group of allies, can hope to contain the evil that is growing within the borders of this small New England town.

With this, his second novel, Stephen King established himself as an indisputable master of American horror, able to transform the old conceits of the genre into something fresh and all the more frightening for taking place in a familiar, idyllic locale.

This is one of my favorite Stephen King books. I love the way he takes an ordinary town with ordinary people and fills it with something terrifying. Highly recommended for horror and vampire fans.

Favorite Friday: Sharing a favorite TV show

Favorite TV show: The Originals

I enjoy this spin-off of the Vampire Diaries mainly because of Klaus, the troubled vampire/werewolf hybrid of the Mikaelson family. Joseph Morgan plays him well. With Klaus in the family, there is always some kind of conflict happening to keep my attention. He’s the guy you love to hate.

Series description on IMDb:

Many years ago, an original family of vampires lived in the city of New Orleans where they lived happily. However, all has changed and it's up to them to take back what they built.

Creator:
Julie Plec
Stars:
Joseph Morgan, Daniel Gillies, Claire Holt |

Favorite Friday: Sharing a favorite movie

Favorite movie: Bram Stoker’s Dracula

Product Description

Gary Oldman, Winona Ryder and Anthony Hopkins star in director Francis Ford Coppola's visually stunning, passionately seductive version of the classic Dracula legend. In BRAM STOKER'S DRACULA, Coppola returns to the original source of the Dracula myth, and from that gothic romance, he creates a modern masterpiece. Gary Oldman's metamorphosis as Dracula who grows from old to young, from man to beast is nothing short of amazing. Winona Ryder brings equal intensity to the role of a young beauty who becomes the object of Dracula's devastating desire. Anthony Hopkins co-stars as the famed doctor who dares to believe in Dracula, and then dares to confront him. Opulent, dazzling and utterly irresistible, this is Dracula as you've never seen him. And once you've seen BRAM STOKER'S DRACULA, you'll never forget it.

This is one of my favorite versions of Dracula. I thought Gary Oldman did a great job in the starring role, how he changed from young to old. I’m not a Winona Ryder fan. Not sure why, but I never liked her acting, so that was my only disappointment with this movie. This version of Dracula reveals the hidden sexuality in the original story using vivid colors and sensual scenes. Highly recommended for Dracula fans.

Favorite Friday: Sharing a favorite vampire book series

Favorite book series

The Draculia Vampire Trilogy, a vampire series set in the Regency era.

Here is a review I wrote for the 2nd book in this series, Lucifer's Saint: The Vampire Dimitri

What I really liked about this book and the series is that the story is set in a historical setting. I like seeing vampires in non-modern settings. That being said, I'm not a fan of the Regency period so I had to put my feelings about that aside. The characters engaged me and that's what I like in a story. I liked the brooding Dimitri. At times Maia annoyed me with her principles about having to act like lady, but that was because of the time period, so I let it go. I did like her boldness as she stood up to Dimitri. The hero and heroine had a spark between them and I enjoyed watching that grow into love.
I'm not sure I bought the ending though, but I do like the vampire world Ms. Gleason created with her Draculia. At first I wasn't sure about heroes who make a deal with the devil, but it seems to me the devil tricked them into making the deal. I recommend this to readers looking for a different vampire tale and setting.

Favorite Movie

Let Me In

This is a fantastic vampire movie. The vampire appears as a young, innocent girl, but she is anything but innocent. She is a dangerous predator—to everyone except the young bullied boy who is ignored by his troubled mother and father who abandoned him. To him, she is a savior, a guardian angel. The two form a unique bond, one based on need but also affection. She needs him to protect her during the day and help her find prey. He needs her because he is alone. A compelling look at what I think is a true relationship with a vampire. This is not a sparkly, beautiful love story. The wintry New Mexico setting also helps set the bleak mood of this haunting tale. Highly recommended for fans of horror and vampire lore.

Favorite Friday

One of my favorite books is Interview with the Vampire by Ann Rice, which was published in 1993. She created the erotic, sexy vampire well before the sparkly vampires of Twilight. Feel compassion for Louis, the tormented vampire or laugh and fall in love with the capricious Lestat as the author takes you from 1700’s New Orleans to the streets of Paris and then to modern San Francisco. Ms. Rice is a master at re-creating historical settings and what would later become the “sexy” vampire. Highly recommended to fans of vampire romances. The movie was also really good with Tom Cruise and a very sexy, long-haired Brad Pitt. Smile

Long Hair Hottie for March

Actor Billy Wirth is my pick for March. This long hair hunk o' man meat first caught my attention in Lost Boys. As a handsome, but dangerous long haired vamp, he terrorized a small northern California town with his band of teenage vamp brothers. I saw him again years later on Charmed. He played a wickedly handsome warlock from the past that tried to steal the sisters' powers. In that episode he wore really tight jeans. That's something I cannot forget. He plays the bad boy part very well. He also looks pretty damn good wearing only a loincloth. Yummy.
