Lord of the Rings
This needs no explanation. If you don't know about this fantasy trilogy, you have been living in a hole. :)
Enter a world of enchantment and passion. I am a Historical fantasy/Paranormal romance author, editor, musician, and artist living in Arizona. My latest series is based on my time as a rock and roll bassist. All five books in my Shadow-walkers series are available now on Amazon: Awakening, Awakening the Wolf, Awakening the Vampire, Awakening the Fae, and Awakening the Dragon. This blog is all about writing and other aspects of my life.
Since this is October, Halloween month, I am sharing some Halloween favorites.
Favorite Halloween movie
Hocus Pocus
This is my favorite Halloween movie because it mixes drama, comedy and a little bit of scary that is Halloween. I’m not too keen on all witches being portrayed as evil and punished just because of what they are, but the Sanderson sisters did deserve the punishment they received for luring and taking the life out of children.
On Halloween, the three witches return from 17th century Salem after being conjured by innocent pranksters and seek revenge on the people that hanged them. Hocus Pocus, starring Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimi, is an entertaining Halloween movie for all ages.

Favorite Movie
Let Me In
This is a fantastic vampire movie. The vampire appears as a young, innocent girl, but she is anything but innocent. She is a dangerous predator—to everyone except the young bullied boy who is ignored by his troubled mother and father who abandoned him. To him, she is a savior, a guardian angel. The two form a unique bond, one based on need but also affection. She needs him to protect her during the day and help her find prey. He needs her because he is alone. A compelling look at what I think is a true relationship with a vampire. This is not a sparkly, beautiful love story. The wintry New Mexico setting also helps set the bleak mood of this haunting tale. Highly recommended for fans of horror and vampire lore.

One of my favorite books is Interview with the Vampire by Ann Rice, which was published in 1993. She created the erotic, sexy vampire well before the sparkly vampires of Twilight. Feel compassion for Louis, the tormented vampire or laugh and fall in love with the capricious Lestat as the author takes you from 1700’s New Orleans to the streets of Paris and then to modern San Francisco. Ms. Rice is a master at re-creating historical settings and what would later become the “sexy” vampire. Highly recommended to fans of vampire romances. The movie was also really good with Tom Cruise and a very sexy, long-haired Brad Pitt.

One of my favorite King Arthur movies is Excalibur made in 1981. This is one of the best depictions of the magical King Arthur legend, and introduces a very young and beautiful Helen Mirren as the sorceress Morgana. Highly recommended for fans of Sir Thomas Mallory’s classic.

One of my favorite movies is Braveheart. I don’t care that this movie veered off from real history. All I care about it that Braveheart is a great story about fighting for freedom and it’s also a beautiful, tragic love story. My favorite scene is when the princess tells the dying, ruthless English king known as Longshanks that the child growing in her womb is not of his blood. You go girl!

One of my favorite movies is Gladiator with Russell Crowe. The opening battle scene does a great job of showing the might of the Roman Empire and I think it is the best battle scene. Very powerful imagery. My favorite quote is, “At my signal, unleash Hell.”
